It's Official; Peter Gammons Day Established In Honor of Charity Work

ImageJanuary 9th will now be known in the city of Boston as Peter Gammons Day. So says the Mayor who signed an offical order in honor of a decade of philanthropic work by the nationally beloved baseball analyst. Presented to a surprised Mr. Gammons at the "Hot Stove, Cool Music" sports roundtable, The Foundation to Be Named Later, (founded by Theo Epstein and his brother Paul), spearheaded the effort in giving Gammons his due on the 10th anniversary of the charity concert weekend. The honoree, a musician himself, is the founder of the Hot Stove, Cool Music concert series which celebrated its 10th year of giving this winter. Gammons was also told that he would have several 4 year college scholarships offered to Boston Public School student in his name, and Superintendent Dr. Carol Johnson was on hand to congratulate him.

But Gammons was right back at it in the following hour, offering his personal insights, along with REd Sox tickets to the highest bidder as part of the FTBNL live auction. Fetching over $1,000 to be donated to the Foundation's local charity partners, Peter Gammons showed exactly why he deserves his own day to celebrate the spirit of giving and the community of baseball.

Peter Gammons recently joined the NESN team of analysts so we'll be enjoying his insightful commentary and depth of knowledge throughout the 2010 season.
